Now we are slowly coming down off cloud 9 from last week’s triumphant landslide win at The English Hair & Beauty Awards where we won ‘The Hair Salon of the Year East Yorkshire’ and were named ‘The Hair Salon of the Year Overall Winner’.
We spent some time with Kerris our founder and Kirsty our Willerby Salon Director and Area Manager to capture just how they are feeling after such an outstanding event!
Kerris had the following to say:
“We are so excited and emotional about the whole event that took place on Sunday 8th March 2020. We decided to go for the awards as we have been so busy opening the Willerby salon, then myself going on maternity that it wasn’t in our minds for a few years.
We only went for the team award so to discover we had been nominated for 3 different awards it was fantastic!
On the night we hadn’t won the other 2 however, we all decided it was more about having a fantastic night out together and being able to get dressed up.
When we won the regional award, we couldn’t believe it! To be up on stage and then to be announced as the overall winners in addition to the Regional Winners it just seemed so surreal. I am so very proud of our team at both salons. They are wonderful people and so very talented at what they do.
I’m especially grateful for Kirsty who is our area manager, for putting so much into our business. She has supported me through the hard times, and she was there for the great moment... all our hard work came to this.
We are so excited about 2020! What a wonderful start to the year!”
We then had a chat with Kirsty, read what she had to say below:
“What can I say? What a night we had on Sunday! Not only were we voted the East Yorkshire regional salon of the year, we then went on to be named the Overall Hair Salon of the Year. I am finding it hard to put into words how I am feeling right now, I have mixed emotions of how proud I am and what a huge achievement this is for us as a salon, our amazing De Lacy family! I feel so overwhelmed that out of all the amazing salons out there, we won!
I am so proud of our talented hair team; they are always coming up with new ideas of what they would like to see in the salons. They are on top of their game when it comes to up and coming trends, are always getting models in to try new techniques out, they then adapt these to their individual clients, making this service bespoke and tailored to them.
They are constantly pushing each other to be the best they can be, exciting and bouncing off one another within the salons, they just gel perfectly as a team.
They thrive on both in-salon training with me and training from our Wella educators. Their knowledge on cutting, colouring and red-carpet looks is of a very high standard and not forgetting their product knowledge, both combined to ensure that ‘just left the salon polished hair look’ for their clients all year round.
I can honestly say we have the strongest hair team we have ever had working for us at present at both De Lacy salons. The raw talent and passion they have just excites Kerris and I for the future. All of our team members have a very special place within our hearts, to us they are not just staff, they are like family.
A massive thank you to all of our clients, because without you, none of this would have been possible. You are our biggest fans, sharing your love and passion for De Lacy, always supporting the teams. A lot of you have been with us throughout the years and there are a lot of clients that we see as an extended part of our De Lacy Family.
Again, without our media team PINQ constantly sharing our amazing work on social media making sure our posts and everything is set to a high standard and getting new clients involved. The work you put in is really appreciated by Kerris and I. You are always going above and beyond to make sure the posts that go out, we are 100% happy with and keeping the ideas fresh. We truly love you!
For Kerris and I, we have new chapters within the business, and are very excited for the future. We are constantly working together brain storming, coming up with new ideas for the salon and our team members. Making sure that the service systems and the customer service is second to none.
We are constantly considering and searching for training our staff to attend to upskill themselves, to ensure they are giving the best possible service to our clients. All whilst ensuring they are following their dreams and achieving their career goals.
So lastly, but by no means least, Kerris...where do I start? Kerris is just a breath of fresh air, she is one of the kindest loving people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She has taught me so much this past year...I just feel so honoured to be alongside such an amazing person on this journey. I can’t think of anyone else who I would want to be in business with.
